VETERINARY CLUB.

MEETING AT NGATEA. ' / ■ / / • ' CAR FOR SURGEON. A special meeting of the Fanners’ Veterinary Club was held at Ngatea on Friday afternoon, Mr A. J. Andrews presiding. The secretary reported that cash in hand totalled £lOO odd, and accounts outstanding totalled £6O odd. Money - due to the club totalled £3Bl, all of which, with the exception of two small sums, was for the current year. The £3Bl could be looked upon as sure to be collected in time. The question of the rpovision of a motor car for the veterinary gurgepn was again discussed. It was pointed out that arrangements up' to a certain point Jiad been made to purciiase & car, but in view of the fact that the club would have to scratch to find the money, and the upkeep mignt prove to be a 1 burden, unless all tne outstanding money was collected, the matter had been deferred for further consideration. Experience had shown that members did not pay up until the last possible moment, and though the financial position of the club was improving year by year, the question to be decided was whetlier tne club should take the risk of anticipating the future. The club had always been able to meet its debts on the due date in the past, and was reluctant to tafte any action that might prevent this in the future. The matter was discussed at length and it was finally agreed that a car should be acquired by the. club for its officer. With the better service that he would be able to render it would be possible'to enrol new members. 'The car would be an asset that could be realised on in the event of unforseen circumstances. An arrangement was made, whereby a member of the club was to be. personally responsible for its paynient, such arrangement to stand until the annual general meeting.
