METHODIST BAZAAR.
— BRISK BUSINESS REPORTED. The Methodist Church annual sale of work was held in the Centenary Hall, Paeroa, yesterday afternoon, aiid continued in the evening, a large number of people attending, as a result of which a satisfactory sum is expected. . z The hall was prettily decorated, lycopodium, ferns, and bamboos beiiig used with striking effect. The stalls, which were situated on two sides of the walls, were attractively decorated, and the display of many tempting and useful articles, and edibles found willing purchaser.
Among those assisting at the stalls were: Plain and fancy stall, Mesdames A. M. Costain and N.'Miller; apron stall, Misses Innes; Girl Guides’ stall. Misses Rickard, Goldsworthy, and Robins ; cakes, Mesdimes L; Gibb and Innes; sweets, Misses R. Hicks and D. Butler ; flowers'; Miss Rickard ; tearooms, Mesdames C. Morgan, F. Eaddy, H. J. Hayward, Parkinson, and assistants. x During .the evening various competitions were held which, created spirited rivalry and great amusement. The winners were: —Nail driving competition, ladies, Mrs. L. Gibb ; men, Mr L. Gibb. Candle-lighting, Mr’H. Woods. Cork-spearing, Mr N. Miller. Mrs McQuillan guessed the correct weight of the dinner, Mr J.. M. Crosby the weight of the cake, and Ruth Gamble the box of lollies.
