BOWLING.
PROSPECTS FOR COMING SEASON. LOCAL PREPARATIONS. With the approach of summer the various sports and pastimes for that season of the year will soon be in full swing. The bowlers are looking forward in eager anticipation of spending many pleasant afternoons and evenings on the green. During the lasf few months a good deal of attention has been paid to the local green 4 and in improving the appearance of its environs. The whole of the -playing area has been liberally manured and top-dressed where necessary. The weather has not been very favourable to a speedy growth .of grass, but, this notwithstanding, with the exception of one or two calcitrant spots the green is looking very well, and should enable the satisfactory playing standard of last season to be equalled.
Indications point .to there being some fierce 'competitions during the season. Messrs P. Williams., G. H.Taylor, and A. E. Say have promised to donate trophies for additional competitions, and keen rivalry should result. The Brenari Shield fours competition always attracts a Targe number of entries, and the teams taking part will, as in the past, no doubt make bold bids fbr the honour of having their names engraved bn this handsome shield.-
A good number of new members have already joined the club this year, and altogether the indications point to a prosperous and enjoyable season.
