RAILWAY MATTERS.

ANNUAL RETURNS FOR PAEROA. In a statement of traffic and revenue recorded at the principal railway stations in New Zealand, and published 'in the,.Railway& Statement, the following infprmaion concerning operations at the Paeroa station for the year-ended March 31 las-t will be of interest: —■ The total number of passenger tickets sold was 51,149, comprising 2488 first-class single, 1051 first-class return, 27,892 second-class single, - and 19,718 second-class return. The number of season tickets issu.ed totalled 898. The revenue derived from the sale of passenger tickets, including the season tickets, amounted to £9853 7s-4d., A return of the stock and goods consigned from Paeroa gives the numbers' as 2916 cattle and calves and 13,171 sheep' and pigs. Timbers is given as 10,929 hundred superficial , feet, while other goods amounted to 24,843 tons-. - The -number Of cattle and calves received inwards at Paeroa was 1048, sheep and pigs 3210- Inward goods totalled 7990 tons. < The revenue accruing from parcels ? totalled £1523 6s 7d, and from luggage and mails:£l2l 15s 4d. The railage on goods apiounted to £10,220 19s. The total value forwarded is.given as £21,958 19s lOd.
