TAXI CHARGES TO STATION.
(To the Editor.) observe in your last issue •' that the Railway Department is, unfortunately for the town,, to move to the new station and commence operations there next Monday morning. It occurs -to me that if we can do one thing more than another to prevent • the town suffering more damage than necessary through this removal it is essential that our Mayor and councillors should immediately frame and bring'into operation a by-lhw regulating the taxi charges to and from the station. At the present time the charges are outrageous, and may be made anything by the proprietors at ■*'— their own sweet will, and if persisted in will go a long way to discourage people coming into our town, either for business or pleasure, I sincerely hope the matters is tinder consideration, and that our councillors; will set a by-law in motion at once .to restrict the taxi charges' to a reasonable figure. • • TRAVELLER.
