KEREPEEHI CHILDREN’S FANCY DRESS BALL. At the children’s fancy dress ball, held at Kerepeehi on Friday evening last in aid of the street lights, there was a very full hall, there being over a hundred children in fancy dress. Undoubtedly it was the best function of its kind ever held in Kerepeehi. Owing to the unfailing energies of the two lady schoolteachers the children were all able to do the grand march, Roger de Coverly, polonaise, the la rinka, and the valet.a, and all being in fancy dress a very pretty spectacle was presented. The la rinka was made a special spot dance, the prize being won by Master “Buster" O’Lpughlan and Miss Sadie McMillan. The prizes for the best fancy dresses were Won by J. Carr (Ancient Briton) and Miss Beryl Newdick( Balloon Pierrette). The prizes for the smaller children were won by Miss P. Newdiek (Bee) and Master A. Parker (French Chef). Then the tiny tots paraded, and prizes were given by •votes to Master “Buster” O’Loughlan (Bandsman in full dress) and Miss Sadie McMillan (Candlestick). Before partaking of supper the children gave three rousing cheers for their teachers, and the prizes were presented by Mrs E. Taylor bn behalf of the committee, all the tiny tots receiving a small prize.

Mrs Hudson, the originator of the dance, wae unable to be present owing to illness, but a very hearty votej)f thanks to her was carried by acclamation for her untiring efforts on behalf of the street lights fund. Thanks are also due to the ladies who assisted to decorate the hall and helped with the catering. Thanks was also accorded to Messrs Innis and Herkt for the free use of. the hall for practice by the children. After the children had retired the hall was opened for the adults, and a very enjoyable time was spent dancing until the early hours.
