PAEROA DOMAIN.

MONTHLY MEETING OF BOARD. ■ Following the Borough Council meeting a brief sitting of the Domain Board was held, the chairman, Mr W. Marshall, presiding. APPLICATION FOR GROUND. The Paeroa Rugby Union applied for the use of two football grounds in the domain next season. It was decided to make provision for two grounds, and the terms under which the union could use them would be advised at a later date. APPLICATION FOR GATE: W. Dykes applied for a wicket-gate and entrance to the domain from King Street. He offered to donate £1 towards the cost of the work. The chairman said that the matter had been fully gone into two years ago, and the board was then of the opinion that there were already too many gates leading to the domain. Mr de Castro favoured making a King Street entrance and closing the double gate on Thames. Road. The chairman did not favour two entrances from King Street. Mr Silcock said that the gates were already too numerous when any functions were being held in the domain. No doubt the' gate would serve a good purpose, but if the King Street gate w'as put in /the Thames .Road gate should be closed. In any case there was no hurry in the matter, and he would move that it be referred to the' domain committee for a report, with an estimate of the cost, at the next meeting. . GRAZING SHEEP. Mr Silcock said that it was difficult to arrange to get anyone to graze sheep on the domain on account of worrying by dogs during night-time. One man had made an offer to put in 80 sheep next week, but that number was hardly sufficient. Air Edwards said that he believed several farmers would gladly avail themselves of the opportunity to graze 200 or more sheep. , The matter was referred to the domain committee, with power to act. BAD DRAINAGE. . Mr Brenan drew attention to the fact that a lake of water was lying in the western end of the domain near the lire station. Mr Silcock said that instructions had been given to lower' the drain a further eighteen inches. He thought that would overcome the difficulty.
