WORKS IN THE BOROUGH
PROGRESS DURING THE MONTH.
REPORTS BEFORE COUNCIL. At last night’s meeting of the Paeroa Borough Council the following report for the month was submitted by the Works Committee and approved: “The foreman’s report gives a general idea of work done during the past month, and the committee proposes to continue as far as possible with the general maintenance work during the coming month in order to get as many jobs completed as possible, and so allow the staff to concentrate. on permanent works when the weather is suitable. Among the works For immediate attention are the footpaths in Flora Steert from Dulcie Street to the railway boundary. With the closing of the railway footpath it will alfso be necessary to give path , access in Flora Street to Puke Road. “The dump in. Nahum Street has. been piped, and an advertisement giving notice that it may be used has been inserted in the paper. We recommend that any persons depositing rubbish bn the riverbank or .elsewhere in the borough be prosecuted without warning. “Chips for the domain footpaths have been ordered from the Morningside quarry, which is the only place of supply, and as soon as they come to hand the work will be commenced. “The 2in water-pipes will be to hand in a few days, and it is proposed to lay these pipes from the racecourse to the borough boundary on Thames Road. “Weather permitting, it is intended to complete the town end of, Moore Road and, if possible, metal the top of Hill Street to connect with Kennedy Street, as it is definitely stated that the tailway station will be moved in two to three weeks’ time.’’ FOREMAN’S REPORT. The foreman reported as follows “The work for the past month has been the repairing and reforming of footpaths and general repair work. “The footpath from Thames Road to the Railway Settlement along Abrangi Road has been finished. Hughendon Street paths have been trimmed and gravel put on same, and other paths have had attention. “The kerbing and channelling of Moore Road and the formation of the footpath have been finished. The road also has been formed and partly metalled, and we hope to complete this work as soon as the weather will permit the use of the roller. “The main road from Victoria Street to the boundary on Waihi Road has been patched, and a few other roads have also received attention. We are now having the footpaths from Willoughby Street to the school attended to. “I think the Council slfbuld takedrastic steps in regard to and horse-riders continually using the footpaths. “The main traffic bridge is getting in a bad state, and will shortly require some decking for repairs.”
