PEDIGREE JERSEYS.
LOCAL IMPORTATIONS. IMPROVING DISTRICT QUOTA. Further valuable additions to the pedigree Jersey breed of this district have recently been made by Mr W. Bottomley, of Paeroa. As a result of private negotiations with Mr W. J. Chynoweth, of Marshland’s stud faim, Pukerorp, Hamilton, on July 25. Mi Bottomley purchased three pedigree females at a total cost’of 145 guineas. The quality of the stock bred by Mr. Chynoweth is already too well and favourably known to call for any comment, and his.stock has been seen, in t|he show-ring at our local A. and P. show.
The animals purchased by Mr Bottomley are Marshland’s May Queen, in calf to Marshland’s Masterpiece ; Marshland’s Lenora, in calf to Marshland’s. Masterpiece ; and Marshland’s Dora ,in calf to HpUy Oak’s Superior Chief. Thus it will be seen that Mr Bottomley has secured not only animals with a splendid strain of bipod in their veins, but also with undoubted butter-fat records behind them. It is stated that the purchaser has received an offer of 40 guineas for the calf, when dropped, of Marshlands’ Dora, the sire, Holly Oak’s Superior Chief, having the splendid backing of 9971 b butter-fat. Mr Bottomley is to be congratulated on his enterprise, and he has the good wishes of the community for success in the future.
The next sitting of the Magistrate’s Court will be held a,t Paeroa on Monday, when a lengthy list is set down for hearing.
