LAST SATURDAY’S GAME.

WIN FOR LADIES’ CLUB. The hockey match between .the ex-hockey player members pf the Ladies’ Golf Club and ' the Paeroa Ladies’ Hockey Club was played on the No. 2 football ground at, the Racecourse on Saturday afternoon. Despite the miserable weather conditions, and the mud and water, both sides put lull teams in the field. The matcn, which attracted considerable attention, resulted in a win for the Hockey Club by three goals to nil. Througnout the first.half of the game the Golf Club had the. upper hand, and some good passing rushes eventuated, only to be negatived by the sound defence of the opposing team/ In the second half the youth and training stood to the Hockey Club team, and they had little difficulty in obtaining the scores mentioned, the goals being shot by Misses N. Fitch, V. Shand, and C. Swann. \

The Golf Club showed the younger team many little fine points during the game, and it is considered that as a result much good will come of the practice. The club team is showing much improvement as the season wears oh, and the beginnefis are rapidly becoming more proficient in the art of using their sticks and keeping their places on the field. At the conclusion of the match the hockey club members Were the guests of the Golf Club at afternoon tea

On Saturday next the hockey team will Journey to Ngatea tp play the return match with the Ngatea club. The following have been selected : Goal-keeper, Miss M, Tierney; backs, Misses E. Carthy and P. Treanoi , halves, Misses L. McKee, V. Shand, f l . Shaw, Forwards, Misses C. Swann, A. Morland, L. Payne, ; N. Fitch, B. Bunting. Emergencies: Misses F. Leach, M. Gleeson, and N. Morland. - Cars will leave from Brocket and Shand’s at 12.15 p.m. sharp.
