PAEROA RUGBY UNION.
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The regular meeting of the Paeroa Rugby Union Committee was held in Bain’s Buildings on Monday evening, the chairman (Mr J. W. T. Jones) presiding over a full attendance. REGISTRATIONS. The following registrations were accepted: Karangahake Club, J. Clarkin; Netherton, third-grade, M. Murdoch and A. Morrison. A clearance was granted to J. E. Sinnett from the West senions to Putaruru under the usual conditions. A. McKenna and C. Treanor, East juniors, applied for clearances. The applications were discussed at length, and finally it was resolved that sufficiently strong grounds for the granting of the clearances had not been advanced and the applications were refused. PROMOTION OF PLAYERS. The notice of motion moved by Mr C. H. Potter to the effect that senior and junior (selectors be empowered to promote a minor player to a senior team, and in the case of a player refusing promotion the matter be dealt with by the union, w.as carried unanimously. REPLACING PLAYERS. The notice of motion moved by Mr C. H. Vincent at a previous meeting to the effect that it be a recommendation to the Thames Valley Rugby Union that it rescind its resolution that the replacement of players up to half-time only be permitted was carried. MEDAL PROVIDED. It was resolved that the gold medal donated by Mr D. McWatters should be awarded to the best senior back in representative football under the Paeroa Union. ’ SUSPENSION OF PLAYERS. A letter was received from the Karangahake selector concerning the suspension of E. King and Jack Rackham. He stated that in his opinion the union had dealt too drastically with tlie men concerned, and contended that written notice should have been sent advising that the union intended dealing with the cases. The chairman pointed out that Rackham had attended the meeting as a club delegate, and he had also been granted the opportunity of explaniing his behaviour. With regard to King it was agreed that his case might be discussed in view of the f.act that he had not been present at the previous meeting. After hearing King’s explanation it wats decided -to. defer the matter until the next meeting, when the referee (Mr Pcnlington) would be asked to attend and give further evidence. PROVISION OF CAR. It was resolved that Brenan and Co. be thanked for providing a motor-car free of charge for the conveyance of the third-grade team to Te Arolia on Saturday last. ACCOUNTS. - Accounts totalling £1 15s were passed for payment. The secretary was authorised to remit. 25 per cent, of the gate receipts taken at the Poland Cup match at Paeroa last Saturday to the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union.
