COMMITTEE MEETING.

A meeting of the management committee of .the Hauraki Plains Rugby Union was held at Ngatea on Tuesday evening, Mr J. Costello presiding over, Messrs C. S. Foster, M. Leonard, J. H. Nicholson, W. Thompson, H. L. Berney, A. McClean, F. L. Wallis, and W. Wylde, secretary. APPRECIATION. The secretary was instructed to convey to the Paeroa Rugby Union the appreciation of the Union for the hospitality accorded the representative team on Saturday last. SATURDAY’S MATCHES. A letter was received from the Thames Valley Rugby Union notifying the playens selected to play against Waikato at Hamilton on Saturday next, and the arrangements for transport. As Mr C. S. Foster, tlie manager appointed by the Thames Valley Union, was not able to make the trip, it was decided that Mr H. L. Berney convey the players to Paeroa. and act as manager. . . Inter-club matches will •be played on the Plains, and the referees appointed for the different games are as follows: Kerepeehi v. Waitakaruru. at Kerepeehi, Messrs D..G. McMillan (seniors) and A. Cleave (juniors) ; West v. Ngatea, at Ngatea, Messrs J. Kidd (seniors) and A. McClean (juniors) ; United Coast v. Turua, at Turua, Mr G. T. Davidson. TRANSFERS. The transfer from the Waitakaturn club tb the Ngatea club of R. McPherson and J. McPherson was approved. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £27 19s 6d were passed for payment. THE WAIHI MATCH. Complete arrangements were made in connection with the next Poland Cup match, for which the Plains team will travel to Waihi. It was decided that the motor lorry leave Ngatea at 10 a.m., and that should any Patetonga players be selected the union would arrange accommodation for . them on Friday and Saturday nights at Ngatea or Waitakaruru, whichever was most'suitable, and transport them and the Waitakaruru players from and to Waitakaruru. The team will have lunch and dinner in Waihi. PLACING OF PLAYERS. Mr. Leonard brought forward a motion from the Ngatea Club to the effect that it be a recommendation to the selectors that when picking a representative team players be placed in the positions in which they played in club matches. The recommendation was seconded pro forma by Mr Foster and discussed at length,' the opinion of delegates being that while the proposition sounded all right it was unworkable in practice. The Thames Valley team was quoted to show that players were placed in .unaccustomed places, and it was also mentioned that L. (Ryan, who was the Plains outstanding wing forward until he met with his accident, was usually, placed in the fiveeighth line in club, matches. On the motion being put only the mover and seconder supported it. DONATION. The secretary was instructed to. convey the union’s thanks to Mrs Bertelsen and Mrs Hayward for a donation of £1 14s, being half the proceeds realised by the sale of kewpies dressed in the union’s and the Ngatea clubs colours. , RYAN BENEFIT. Delegates reported on the result of the subscriptions received and money raised by functions in their districts in aid of the hospital expenses of Mr L. Ryan, whose leg was broken while playing football, and it was decided that the donations be forwarded by the clubs independent of the union. OUTSIDE MATCH. The Waitakaruru Club was granted permission to play a. game against Whakatiwai on an off day.
