FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The regular meeting of the executive of the Paeroa Rugby Union whs held in Bain’s Rooms on Monday evening, Mr J. W. T. Jones presiding over the following: Messrs W. Pennell, R. Hodson, W. Morrison, D. Vincent, T. Welsh, C. H. Potter, T. P. Vuglar, B. Neil, and J. M. Crosby, secretary. REGISTRATIONS. The following registrations were apporved: — Netherton juniors, A. Spencer; third-grade, W. Donovan. West seniors, M. Crosby; juniors, R. Oates and Wilton. East juniors, M. Beattie and T. Wicliffe. School third-grade, Rackham, Conolly, Fleming, Keaney, Pivott, Irwin, P. Poland, Taylor, Piercey, A. Williams, Sanst, Gamble, Buchanan, P. Williams, A- Flatt, J. Silcock, Verran, Eaddy, Fitzgerald. A clearance was granted to A. V. Keighley to play for Waihi provided he was financial in the East club. PLAYER SUSPENDED. The' referee (Mr R. B. Penlingtoli) reported that an East player, M. Pennell, had walked off the held without permission during the progress of the East .v Netherton senior game at Paejoa laist Saturday. A lengthy discussion ensued, during which several members expressed strong disapproval of Pennell’s conduct. Finally it was moved by the chairman, seconded by Mr Potter, that Pennell be suspended for the rest of the season. The motion was carried, Mr Hodson being the only member to vote against it. It was also resolved that the captain of the East team be reprimanded for replacing Pennell after half-time without, consulting the referee. LINE UMPIRES. A letter was received from the Paeroa Referees’ Association drawing 1 attention to the practice! that was prevalent of line umpires—one of whom was a member of the executive of the union—attempting to control the game and instructing the players from the line, often contrary to tne referee’s rulings. It was suggested that steps be taken to have the practice stopped by appointing only unbiased persons as umpires. - A letter was also received from the Karangahake club complaining that the conduct of the line umpire, Mr B. Neil, during the West v. Karangahake match at Karangahake on Saturday last was improper. After hearing what the Karangahake delegate had to say, it was resolved, on the motion of Mr Vuglar, seconded by Mr Crosby, to defer the matter until the next meeting, and invite the referee (Mr E. Smith) to attend. SCHOOL FOOTBALLS. It was decided to hand the' sum of £5 13s due from the N.Z. Rugby Union for school footballs over to the Primary Schools’ Union. FINANCIAL PLAYERS. It. was resolved that no player's be eligible for inclusion in senior or junior representative teams who have not paid all club dues by June 8. THIRD-GRADE MATCHES. It was left in the hands of tfle secretary to arrange ,t.he times, for playing third-grade matches each Saturday. MATCH WITH PIAKO. The secretary was instructed to endeavour to arrange with the Piako union to send a B senibr team to play a B Paeroa team at, Paeroa on. June 13. ' ' ’ GATE MONEY. The action of Messrs Jones, Hodson, and Crosby in promising 25 per cent, of the gate takings to the Hauraki Plains union when its team competed for the Poland Cup at Paeroa was confirmed. TO-MORROW’S FIXTURES. The following fixtures and referees for to-morrow’s matches were approved.;— Seniors.—West v. Netherton, at ■Paeroa, ‘3 p.m., Mr J. D. Crawford ; East v. Suburbs, at Hikutaia, 3 p.m., Mr E. Smith. Juniors. —Karangahake v. Netherton, at Netherton, 3‘ p.m,. Mr R. B. Penlington; East v. West, at Paeroa, 2.30 p.m. (No. 2 ground), Mr P. E. Brenan ; Suburbs a. bye. Third-grade.—East v. Netherton, at Netherton, 1.30 p.m., Mr Johnson; West v. Paeroa School, at Paeroa (No. 1 ground), 1.30 p.m., Mr J. D. Crawford.
