“The annual estimate required by (he Main Highways Board for the current year, both for maintenance and consti'iiciton, by the 11th inSt., in Wellington.”
In reply to Cr. Johnstone the engineer said there was no doubt, that the main Paeroa-Te Arolia Road was in need of repair, and badly needed scarifying and rolling.
Cr. il. M. Corbett isaid that the cost of maintenance had to be faced, and he suggested that the engineer forward the estimates for doing the work under the highways board. He did not think the council was in a position to authorise further construction work.
Cr. Johnstone favoured including po'tioi'. of the road between W.aitoki and Mangaiti in the work, thereby linking up to each side of the metal. The council had undertaken to do the work some twelve months ago, but nothing had been done.
Cr. Morgan opposed construction work being done out of maintenance. it. was decided to have the World done. I

As there are several places between Tirohia .and Mangaiti that require scarifying and rolling advantage may be taken of the roller while it is on its way to dikthe former wo i k.
