The Paeroa Post Office will be closed in all branches te-morrow, Anzac Day. The telephone exchange will be open between the hours of 9 a.m and 10 a.m., and 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. There will be no outward or inward mails dealt with.
The Rev. Father Campbell, who will opcm a Mission at St. Mary’s Church, Paeroa, on Sunday next, its of the Redemptbrist Order, and is a priest jf wide and varied experience, including four and a half years’ chaplaincy at the Great War in Egypt, Belgium, France, and Rhine Province.
His Grace the Primate and Archbishop of New Zealand will visit the Hauiaki Plains paritah from Monday next until Friday, and tl/c following arran genients have been made : Tuesday, 2 p.m., evensong at Orongo ; 7.30‘ p.m., confirmation at Kcrcpeehi. Wednesday, 2 p.m. evensong at Kaihere; 7.30 p.m., eve'nsong at Ngatea. Thursday. 11 a.m., Holy Communion at Pipiroa ; 2 p.m., evensong at Waitakariiru ; 7.30 p.m., evensong at Turua.
The annual meeting of householders for the deletion of a. school committee will be held in the Soldiers’ Club, Paeroa, on Monday, May 4. Nominations for seats on the committee will close with the secretary, care of “Gazette” Office, and from whom nomination forms arc obtainable, od Monday next, April 27.”
We have been asked to remind our readers that, ais in former yeans, a Requiem celebration will be offered at St. Paul’s Church to-morrow morning at 10 o’clock, for all those who gave their lives-in the Great War. This, service is not intended for members of the Anglican Church only, and all who desire to commemorate the Fallen are cordially invited to ne present. A temporary Shrine will be erected beneath the Roll of Honour in the churph for the reception of wreaths and other commemorative tokens. Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure.
A very enjoyable afternoon was spent recently on the loc.al croquet lawns when Mrs G. S. Taiboys and Miss Dawber, vice-presidents of the club entertained the members. The afternoon was devoted to a progressive croquet competition, and the players were divided into A and S grades, the winners being Mrs G. 11. Taylor, A grade, and Mrs E. H. Andrews, B grade. Afternoon tea was serveti, and the vice-presicleii.te were congratulated' on the success of their arrangements.
Racing is given generous space in this week’s issue of the "N.Z. Sporting and Dramatic Review." The centre pages are comprised, of a selection of photographs of local and visiting enthusiasts at the Auckland Rae ,ing Club’s meeting, and the Avondale Feiiding, and Waipukurau meetings are also covered. Golf devotees are liberally catered, for, and deer-stalk-ing in Westland, is featured in a fine selection. In an attractive miscellany are motor Gymkhana and presentation of Muriwai prizes at Mangere, funeral of the late' President of Germany, fishing on the Manakau Harbour, etc.
