PLAINS DEFEATS THAMES. MATCH AT KOPUARAHI. The Hauraki Plains cricketers defeated the Thames representatives at Kopuarahi on Saturday last in their first representative match. The Thames tejam had not been previously beaten this season, and had played many matches, including one against Rotorua on the previous Saturday, ana although the difference at Kopuarahi was only two runs in a one innings match the Plainsites were( fortunate enough to win. At fielding the visitors were superior, but it was obvious that the bowlers were not accustomed to a concrete pitch. Plains batted first and scored slowly, knocking up 88 runs in two hours. There were- 41 overs, ten of which were maidens, and seven bowlers were tried. Thames knocked up their ruins quickly, securing many boundaries, and looked like winning, but the tail was weak and McDonald dismissed the last three men in one over. Plains bowled 19 overs, and only three men were clean bowled. Details of the scores are as follows : HAURAKI PLAINS. F, Woodbridge, b Buchan 16 S. Phillips, c Dare, b Gibson — 4 Rus.
