WIN FOR LOCAL CLUB.

An enjoyable match was played on the local courts on Saturday last, when Hikutaia sent, a team to Pae.ca to play the return match against the local B team. The weather was fine throughout, the afternoon, and a thoroughly', enjoyable match was played, resulting in an easy win for the home team by 108 games to 52. Following are the results, Paeroa players being mentioned first in eaca instance: —

Mens Singles : Wells lost to Samson 3—7 ; Leach beat Alexander, 7-3; Southby boat Bruer, 7 —3; Grant beat Young, 7 —5 ; Peek beat .Murdock, 7 —o ; Hunter lost to Elliot, 6- 7. Ladies’ Singles : Mrs Halliday .bent Miss Smith, 6 —2 ; Mrs O’Neill beat Miss Vowles, 6 —l; Miss M. Thorp boat Miss O’Carroll, C —o ; Miss R. Tierney-beat Miss Morrison, 6 —2. Men’s Doubleis : Wells and Leach lost to Samson and Bruer, 5—7 ; Southby am’ Grant beat Alexander and Young, 7- ii; Peek and Hunter beat Elliot and Murdock, 7—l. Combined Doubles : Mrs Halilday and Wells beat Miss Smith and Samson, 7—6 ; Mrs O’Neill and Leach beat Miss Vowles and Alexander, 7 —l; Miss M. Thorp and Southby beat Miss O’Carroll and Elliot, 7—3; Miss R. Tierjiey and Grant beat Miss Morrison and Young, 7—4.

SEMI-FINALS ON PLAINS.

CHAMPIONSHIP COMPETITION. The semi-finals and the finals of the Championship Tournament organised by' the Hauraki Plains Tennis Association will be played at Turua on Saturday, March 21, and should prove keen contests. In the men’s semi-finals G. L. Griffiths will meet M. O’Connor, and D. G. McMillan will play F. C. RobinsiMi, while in the ladies’ semi-finals Mrs Speedy will play Miss Wallace. Miss Duffy has won by default from Miss Clot worthy, who is away from the district.

In all probability many of the handicap tournament matches will be played at Turua on the same day.
