A letter was received from the manager of the Northern Steam Ship Co., Ltd., in reference to advertising the time of departure from Ngatea stating that the matter would be attended to. The company made a special feature in its advertisements in all local papers, which most of the people received, and in that way considered it one of the best means of letting them know. BANK AGENCY. fhe manager of .the Bank of N.Z., Thames advised' having gone into the ->iu«q ibuojhppb .ioj qsonba.l s,.iaquiuip ing facilities, but he could not at the present time reasonably see a way to commence a daily service owing to the heavy expense. It was gratifying to notice the progress which Ngatea was making, and nuch progress was being kept •steadily before the head office. Only recently, prior to the. ch amber’s request, the question of ways and means of giving a better service was under consideration, but, as mentioned before, the matter of expense was the obstacle. The bank, however, desired to cater for the majority of its clients in the district, and with that object it was quite probable that before the end of the current year a bi-weekly service would tie commenced. It must not be overlooked that the bank already opened two di.yis a week at Turua, and one day a month at W.aitakaruru. The chamber decided that the bank lie informed that its observations had been noted with pleasure, and tnat the establishment of a bi-
weekly service as soon as possible was anticipated. PLAINS COURTHOUSE.
