NGATEA. FOOTBALL CLUB. Tne annual meeting of the Ngatea Football Club was held on Thursday evening, Mr J. Costello presiding over nn attendance of about 10 players and supporters.* The balance-sheet showed an excess of receipts over expend ii u. l e ■of £l5 18s 4d. Tiie officers appointed for the eiK-U: ing year were : aPtron, Mr W. G, Hay-* ward; president, Mr C. S. Foster, secretary} Mr C. Bertelsen; delegates to Haiiraki- Plains Rugby Union Messrs C. S. Foster and J. Costello ; selectors, Messrs C. S. I'oster (senioi), and Mr E. Flavell (junior); commil tee, Messrs C. Molloy, G. Couir.enav, P. Leonard, A. E- Ludlow, O. Cleave, S. McKay, T. Alderson, R. ■Rowlings, C, Wilton, and E. Flave.l :i Membership fees were fixed at 5s on condition that the club pay halt the travelling expenses of teams. c The club colours were not changed- ‘ The question of playing unflnancial members was discussed at length, and finally it was decided .that the selectors be instructed not to select any player ■ after the finst match unless he was financial, provided that any new player coming to the district during the season must be financial before being eligible for selection. - A working bee and practice match were arranged for every Saturday until ’ competitions commenced. The question of insurance was was brought up, the opinion being that any sound proposal should receive serious consideration. In the past the best offers received were tc« costly to be entertained by the club. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to the past season’s officers and to Mr W. G. Hayward for the use of his paddock during past seasons HIKUTAIA. TENNIS. '(•he Hikutaia team spent a very enjoyable time at Netlierlon* on Saturday afternoon, the day being a delightful one for tennis. The match commenced at one o’clock. Tlie scores were as follows, the Hikutai-i team being mentioned first: — - Ladies’ Singles: Miss Grace Gibb beat Mrs . Maude, 6 —o ; Miss M. R. Gibb beat Miss H. Matthews, 6—l ; Miss Elliot beat Misis -Haligan, 6—3 ; Mrs Alexander lost to Miss Carter, 3—(j. Men’s Singles : G. Gibb lost to B. Carter, 6—9 ; C. Elliot beat E. Poctcr> 9_i; w. Paetai beat Fisher, 9— 0; R. Rare beat J. Maloney, 9—o; N. Davidson beat R. Morrison, 9 1, R. Rare lost to C. McMillan, B—9. Men’s Doubles : G. Gibb and C. Elliot beat Carter and Potter, 7 —3 ; Paetai and Rare beat Fisher and McMillan, 7—-‘o. Ladies’ Doubles : Misses Gibb beat Mre Maude and Miss Matthews, 6- 1; Miss Elliot and Mrs Alexander beat Misses Haligan and Carter, 6 —l. TotalHikutaia 97, Netherlon 46.
