’ PAEROA DEFEATS HIKUTAIA.
On Saturday afternoon the Paeroa Tennis Club sent a “B” team to Hikutaia to play an inter-club match. An enjoyable contest resulted in the visitors winning the match' by 45 points. Following are the details, Paeroa players being mentioned first in each instance :—
Men’s Singles : Kenny lost to Samson. 6—7; Penlington beat Elliot, 7 —6 ; Hamilton beat Alexander, 7— 6 : Scuthbv lost to Brewer, 3—7 ; Leach beat Young, 7 — 3 ; Grant beat Murdoch. 7—3. Ladies’ Singles : Miss J. Ellis lost to Miss Smith, 5—6; Mrs Halliday beat Miss L. Morrison, 6 —l; Miss Argali beat Miss Vowles, 6—o; Miss M Thorp beat Miss C. Morrison, 6—o. Men’s Doubles: Kenny, and Penlington beat Samson and Alexander, 6—l; Hamilton and. Grant lost to Elliot and Brewer, 2—6 ; Sbiithby and Leach beat Young and Murdoen. 6 —4. Combined Doubles : Miss Ellis and Kenny beat Miss Smith and Samson, 6 —o ; Mrs Halliday and Penlington beat Miss L. Morrison and Elliot, 6—2 ; Miss Argali and Hamilton beat Miss Vowles and Brewer, C— l ; Miss M. Thorp and Southby beat Miss C. Morrison and Alexander, 6 —2. Totals : Paeroa 100, Hikutaia 55. Time did not permit of the ladies’ doubles being played.
