ACCLIMATISATION.
OHINEMURI SOCIETY. MEETING AT NETHERTON. 'The committee of The Ohinemuri Acclimatisation Society visited Netherton last Saturday night hi order to meet the sportsmen of that district for the puipose of furthering the interests of the society. The following committeemen were present: Messrs J. Hamilton (president), D. Leach (secretary), M. Remington, J. Rackham, W. Griffin, C. Mead, and B. Norris. ' •' The attendance of Netherton sportsmen was small, but thqse present showed a keen desire to assist in the work of liberating and supervising the. phea-'.ants, fifty of which will arrive shortly. / Messrs Rice, C. A. Stembridge, and J. A. Reid were appointed a local committee, with power to add to their number. Messrs Rice (local secretary) and Stembridge were appointed delegates to the Ohinpmuri Society, and it was decided to obtain honorary ranger’s licences for .Messrs C. A: Stembridge and M, Remington. The opinion was expressed that the local committee should liberate 35 pheasants on the Wirihana estate apd 15 on P. Fisher’s property, provided •satisfactory arrangements could’ be made with the. owners..to close their properties to shooters and open .them by mutual arrangement with the society to members only. Netherton possesses some splendid stretches of pheasant country, yrith admirable shelter, and if properly protected the birds should multiply rapidly and good shooting be available. >
