sensational final. KOPUARAHI RETAINS CUP. The llnal matches of the inter-club competition on the Haurakj Plains were played on Saturday, and resulted in three-point wins being secured by the Kopuarahi and Kaihere teams. Kopuarahi thus wins the competition for the second year. The points gained by the various teams are as. ; follows: Kopuarahi 15, Kaihere 12, W.aitakaruru 11, Pipiroa 8, Ngatea 5. The llnal of the Kopuarahi-Pipi- ’ roa match at Kopuarahi on Saturday : proved sensational, and a feat probab- ' ly unique in the aimaks of cricket was . accomplished. When Kopuarahi went in fov the second innings there remained 25 minutes in which to make 63 runs. This seemed an impossibil- ! ity, but the players, determined to ati tempt it, and when the last over was i called there still remained 19 runs to |be secured. This also seemed impossible. but L. James hit the first ball i for 6 (on a 75 yards boundary), the second ball for 6, and the third for four. He was caught out by tne : bowler next ball, and was replaced by Candy, who contributed one, while ] Bowen secured three. Thus in 25 minutes 65 runs were knocked up and the game won with two runs to spare. Details of the scoring are as follows: PIPLROA—First Innings. B. Wallis, c Green, b Gill 13 J.
