On l Tuesday evening last the driver (Mr H. Morrison) of a large Paige car, owned by his brother, had a remarkable escape. He left Waini shortly after 8 p.m., en route to his home at Netherton, imid while descending the Waitete hill just beyond the abattoir the brakes of the car failed to act properly, and the vehicle shot, over the left bank close up to the bridge.
