TURUA TOWN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING.

The regular meeting of the lurua Town Board was held on Wednesday' evening Mr J. Mules presiding over Commissioners C. Scott, J. T. Davies, F. Olsen, J. McConnell, S. G. Williams and C. J. Bedford. The clerk, Mr J. E. Green, was aliso in attendance. METAL SUPPLIES. Trethowens Ltd.., Kauaeranga, wrote advising that their quarry was not opening up as'well as expected, and that no metal would be available for Tuma until April. DEDICATION OF ROAD. Intimation was received fropi tne Assistant Under Secretary of the Public Works Department that the legalisation of the land taken in exchange for Manene Street on Bagnall’s subdivision would be proceeded with, as the exchange could be regarded as equitable. HONISS’ BRIDGE. Air J. McConnell reported having inspecctd the bridge near the cornel" of tiie road leading to Oronsp. He would recommend that it oe lowered a foot by cutting that much off th 4 top of the piles. It was decided that this be carried out under the supervision of the works committee. THE WATER-TABLES. Mr McConnell reported that the work of grading out the watertableis was in hand, and would be continued as tlie machinery became available. USE OF METAL DUST. It was suggested by Mr McConnell that tlie dust available from the screening of road metal be spread on the footpaths of the township and tar sprayed. The clerk said that there was no funds available.

;Mr CcConnell offered to provide a barrel or two of tar if others would do tit same. Something should be done before the winter.

The matter then dropped, nothing being decided upon. f , PIAKO ROAD WtORK. .

•The. specifications for the .work on the Piako l?oad were received from the County Council and discussed at length, but no decision was arrived at the matter finally being referred to the works committee,.

Various aspects of the roadingwork were then discussed in committee, and the passing of the accounts for payment closed the meeting.
