ACCLIMATISATION.
LIBERATION OF PHEASANTS. HIKUTAIA AND KOMATA AREAS. During the week the Ohinemuri Acclimatisation Society received a j consignment of fifty three-months-olu pheasants from the Auckland So* . ciety’s game farm at Pukekohe, The birds arrived in good condition, and were met on arrival at Paeroa by Mr; . 5 . D. Leach, secretary of the local so-.. ciety. Of the consignment 25 birds were liberated by Mr A. R. Robuison in ; the Hikutaia district, and the balance ‘ were taken charge of by Messrs J. McCormick and D. McKee tor liberation up the Komata Valley. The pheasants were particularly well grown, and appeared to be of strong constitution, and it is confidently expected that they will thrive in the \ districts. ■ Mr Leach has received advice that a further consignment of 50 birds will -■ be forwarded during this month, and it its proposed to call a meeting of Netherton sportsmen with a view to selecting farms in that district on which to liberate a number of the birds. \ \ -v : — ',Si
