ROWING.
■ — ♦ NEW ZEALAND CHAMPIONSHIP. TO BE ROWED ON WAIKATO. With the holidays over, everyone who has a concern for the sport is turning attention to the New Zealand Championship, which will be decided on the Waikato River at Hamilton on Anniversary Day, January .29. This is the*first occasion on which the blue riband of New Zealand rowing has come this way, while twelve years have elapsed since the championships were in the Auckland province.
The rowing people can be left to fulfil their part to the very last letter of success, but this is an affair. /■ which the residents of town and country should also show their concern. A big honour has been conferred on Hamilton in being given control of the regatta, and on the success or otherwise of it will depend to a verilarge extent what treatment future applications to govern the regatta will receive, from the delegates who direct the destiny of the pastime.
