DISTRICT NEWS.
FATETONGA. PRESENTATION. The esteem in which Miss K. Caldwell is held by the people of Patetonga and the surrounding district S was demonstrated on Saturday evening by the large attendance at a function in her honour m the Patetonga Hall. Prior to her departure to take charge of the Ketepeehi pest office Miss'Caldwell held many public positions, including .that of librarian and the secretaryship of various clubs and societies. She is an accomplished musician, and her services were in demand at concerts and dances. Her departure is a distinct loss to the district. Realising their debt of gratitude, the people of the district secured a beautiful toilet set, and this was presented to Miss Caldwell by Mr -J. F. Mayn, who. with Mr D. Pike, H. N. ■ Taylor, and Pattenson, spoke of her | good work in the district, particularly J on behalf of the Hall Committee, the Literary, Musical, and Debating Society, the Library, and the Tennis Club. During the evening dancing was engaged in. the music being supplied by Miss Caldwell, Mrs Taylor, and the Misses Wallace. Mesdames Tapper, Pollen, and darken were responsible for the very’ effective decorations, ami other ladies provided a very pleasing supper. Between the dances songs were contributed by Miss D. darken, the ’Rev. E. H. Brooker, and Mr J. Caldwell.
