—e — . SATURDAY’S CONTEST. PAEROA LOSES STARS. An Saturday a team from Waikino challenged the local club for the Goldfields Stars, and after a keenly contested game beat the holders. Although -the weather was fine, the green was very dead, which fact made it a difficult matter to bring off shots that are so necessary in the finer points of the game. At the fourth head the home team lay one up, but from then onward the visitors forged alidad, and although Paeroa piled on four points on the seventeenth head the visitors won the coveted Stars by 19 points to 13. Che teams were :—Waikino : Banks, Hinds, Pivac, Vercoe (skip). Paeroa: Gibb, Power, G. H. Taylor, Pinder (skip). The winucivi played consistently good bowls, and were subjected to hearty congratulations.
The Morrinsville club has entered the next challenge for the Stars, and the match will be played at Waikino.
