ELECTRIC POWER.
RATES REDUCED FOR COOKING. DECISION OF THE BOARD. Au announcement is made by the Thames Valley Electric Power Board that from January 1 there will be a reduction for cooking, heating, and household motive power. For some time past the board has had under strict test the matter of cooking by power, and as a consequence these reduced rates are the outcome. At its last meeting the board decided to reduce the price from 31s 8d to- 25s for 140 units. This means that with an electric range a family of six or seven could, for 25s a month, enjoy the privilege of cooking by electricity. For less quantities the prices are advertised. To enable those who are not in a position to purchase a cooker in cash, time payments will be agreed, to, and so enable these prices to be taken advantage of. A matter that concerns every housewife is hot water, and a continuous supply of this can be procured for the small sum of £3 a year. A perusal of the announcement will give new lines of thought to those who have had any doubt about the cost of cooking by electricity.
