LIBRARY MATTERS. A meeting of the committee appointed to control the Turua public library was held on Tuesday evening, Mr A- P- Gardiner, who was elected chairman for the ensuing year, presiding Rules for the better conduct of the library were adopted. Among other points these provided that the end of the financial year shall be on August 15. Subscriptions were fixed at 2s 6d a quarter, and a deposit of 5s is required The hours on which the library will be open were fixed at.: Mondays, 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. ; Tuesdays, .2 p.m. to 3 p.m.; Fridays, 11 a,m. to 12 noon and 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. If was decided that a system of checking the issue and receipt <f books by means of cards be brought into operation.
