DANCE AND EUCHRE.
EAST FOOTBALL CLUB. SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION. The Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, looked very pretty on Monday night, when there was a large attendance at the dance and euchre held iu connection with the East Football Club. The club’s colours, yellow and black, were much in evidence, and with streamers, ferns, flowers, and greenery the hall was very tastefully decorated. The McCullay Shield, won £>y the club duriua the season, occupied a prominent position on the stage. Splendid music was provided by the Waihi Jazz Band, and the duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr L.’ Smith. Extras were played by Misses Smith, Taylor, Vincent, and Shaw. 'i'he .first prize in the euchre tournament. ladies’ section, was won by Miss Verran, with Mesdames McCullay and Pascoe second and third. Among the men Mr Angle was first, Mr Robson second, and Mr R. Shaw third. Handsome booby prizes were awarded to Mis Orr and Mr Ivan Poland. Mr T. P. Vuglar, president of the club, thanked all present for their patronage and the support accorded the club during the season. He especially thanked Miss Sha.w, who had arranged the euchre tournament that evening. The president handed W. Smith the medal presented for the most improved senior player, and the one for the most improved junior player was awarded to R. Smith. The floor was in splendid condition, and the function was voted one of the meet enjoyable arranged by the club.
