ARMISTICE DAY.

TWO MINUTES’ SILENCE. J SUSPENSION OF TRAFFIC. The Mayor (Mr W. Marshall) has received the following communication from the Prime Minister (Hon. W. F. Massey) with regard to Armistice Day, and arrangements will be made for carrying out the expressed wisn of the King in the borough:— “I have the honour to inform you that His Excellency the GovernorGeneral has received the following cablegram from the Secretary of State for the Colonies: “ ‘His Majesty has approved following arrangement for observance in this country of Armistice Day, November 11: (1) Short service will be held at the Cenotaph on the lines adopted in previous years, including hymn “(J God Our Help in Ages Past.” His Majesty the King will be present and will l.ay a wreath. (2) Two minutes’ silence will be observed at 11 a.m. Local authorities in this country will be asked to arrange for suspension of all vehicular traffic for two minutes from 11 a.m., but rail and w.ater transport will not be suspended.’ "In accordance with His Majesty the King's wishes I whould be glad - if you wi[l kindly make suitable arrangements for your borough.”
