DOMAIN BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. Immediately following the .Borough Council meeting on Thursday evening last the Paeroa Domain Board met, the chairman, Mr W. Marshall, presiding .over Messrs H. M. Shand, G. P. Lamb, F. E. Flatt, P. E. Brenan, W. Bain, J. W. Silcock, E. Edwards, T. P, Vuglar, and the clerk, Mr Wm. C. Alexander. In the course of his report the domain superintendent recommended the moving of two sides of the fences surrounding the bowling green so as to include some shrubs inside the fence, and to give more room for the bowlers and public inside the green enclosure. The report also stated that the fence was beyond repair, and a suggestion that a quantity of sec-ond-hand piping could be used for tne purpose. Mr Silcock said it had been estimated that it would cost about £3O to move the fences round the bowling green as suggested, and he thought it was a matter that might very well stand down for the time being. Mr Edwards opposed the suggestion, as in his opinion it would spoil the lay-out and appearance of the domain entrance. The chairman said that owing to the state of the finances the suggestion was out of the question at the present time. The report was adopted. Mr Brenan then moved that the board go into committee for the purpose of considering the fees to be charged for the various greens for the coming season. Seconded by Mr Flatt and carried. On resuming in open meeting the following fees for the use of playing areas within the domain were adopted : Cricket Club, £3 for the season, a rebate to be made in the event of the cricket area being required for domain improvements before the close of the season ; Croquet Club, £2O for the season; Bowling Club, an increase of £lO, making the rental £BO for the season. Mr Shand asked if the club could be advised earlier in the season of the amount likely to be charged as rent for the ensuing year. The chairman agreed that it was desirable to supply the Information earlier if it could be arranged, and he undertook to look into the matter.
