JERSEY BREEDERS’ CLUB

ANNUAL PEDIGREE CATTLE SALE. A SATISFACTORY DAY. The second annual sale of pedigree Jersey cattle held under the auspices of the Thames Valley Jersey Breeders' Club was conducted by the Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., at Hikutaia saleyards on Thursday last in perfect weather. There was a large attendance of buyers from all parts of the Auckland province, and considering the tightness of the money market and the fact that the majority of settlens have made arrangements for their herd requirements for the season, the prices obtained at the sale can be considered to be satisfactory, and in keeping with the average prices ruling at similar pedigree sales in the province. Of the sixty-eight lots submitted to auction forty-five were disposed of under the hammer, the total amount of the sale reaching close on £lOOO. Thirty-three bull,s were sold for a total of 628gns„ an average of 19gns. The highest price for an individual bull was 40gns., which was paid by Mi- C. Gavin, Waitekauri, for Mr G, Buchanan’s Kelvin Majesty, out of Charm’s Lord’s Fancy and by His Imperial Majesty. Twelve females changed hands at a total price of 294gns, which averages 24%gns. each.
