PLAINS COUNTY.
INSPECTOR’S REPORT. The county inspector, Mr W. J. Clare, reported that all the framing for the machinery depot was completed, and the building was ready to receive the iron. A bridge on Huirau Road had been raised to its former level. Building permits totalling £872 and vehicle licenses totalling £3 had been issued. Complaints had been received with reference to drainage matters fiom two property owners in Kerepeehi. As the only means of disposing of house drainage was into the roadside drains he had communicated with the district health officer and asked for a conference on the subject. A pile-driver had been procured ami a derrick erected for use at the Puriri hopper, where work was proceeding steadily. The repairs to the Ngatea pound had been completed and a holding yard for pigs constructed. A demand had been made for a heavy traffic fee to a certain cream carter, and in reply had been received a letter from the Waikato Valley Dairy Co., Ltd., pointing out .that the contractor used part of the roads in the Ohinemuri County and Paeroa Borough as well as the HauraKi Plains County. This meant that he would be required to pay three li cense fees, which was thought unfair. Cr. Madgwick moved that the contractor be compelled to comply with the council's by-laws. Seconded by Cr. Parfitt and carried. The report was adopted.
