PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
CONGREGATIONAL MEETING. The Rev. R. Morgan, Moderator, presided over the Paeroa Presbyterian Church annual congregational meeting in the church on Monday evening. After devotional exercises Mr Morgan, in an admirable address, succinctly reviewed the work of the past year, indicating the steady work o£ visitation, the sustained attendance at church services, and the increase of Bible class interest throughout the parish. The session report showed an increase of membership and larger attendances at Communion. The reports of the Sunday School, P.W.M.U., and Committee of Managers were all of a (satisfactory nature, and were approved and adopted by the meeting. Complimentary reference was made to the active and untiring work of the minister in the wide area of the parish, which extends from Waikino to Netherton, and from Tirohia to Hikutaia. The meeting unanimously agreed to increase the stipend by £25 per annum. The hon. treasurer, in presenting the statement of accounts for the period ending June 30, stated that the financial position was £l74’ better than at June 30, 1923. Direct giving, mainly through the envelope system, had resulted in this improvement. No public appeals have been made during the year. Votes of thanks to the hon. treasurer. hon. auditor, and to those whb lent their cars for outstation work were carried by acclamation. A social hour, with refreshments, was spent at the close of the business meeting.
