earned. Mr E. N. Miller asked what was the next step ■ The secretary replied that the contributing lockl body had to be advised if a loan was to be raised. Mr Miller said that it was therefore uecsesary to know what subsidies were forthcoming' as soon as passible, as the local bodies could not be approached until the full facts were known. The secretary stated that the contributing local bodies had, according to the latest amendment to the Act, I to have five weeks’ notice. It was decided that Mr Hale, Mr B enan, and the secretary attend the coming Hospital Boards Conference in Wellington, and that they approach the Health Department with the plans. A personal interview was more likely to. be productive of better results than communications by letter.
