OHINEMURI LIBRARY.
SPECIAL MEETING LAST NIGHT. BOROUGH CONTROL AGREED TO. A special general meeting of the subscribers of the Ohiuemuri Library was held last evening, Mr W. Marshall presiding. There was a very poor attendance, despite the fact that the meeting was calleil to decide if the library should be incorporated in th<- Borough Council. After the future of the library had been fully explained the following resolution was unanimously carried: “That this meeting adopts the recom mendations of the trustees (published in the “Gazette” of Wednesday last) and- authorises the trustees to give effect to same. THEFTS FROM LIBRARY. The theft of magazines, papers, and other articles from the reading-room was discussed at some length, and the following resolution was carried: "That in. view of the thefts of, and damage to, property in the library, the reading-room be closed except during such hours as the librarian is in attendance.” The chairman said that it was re- : grettable that such action was necessary, but the library property had to be safeguarded. In answer to Mr de Castro the chairman explained that the deed of assignment would be prepared and signed by the trustees forthwith, but he did not think it likely that there would be any material change in the administration of the library until January next.
