FOOTBALL.

PAEROA RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Paeroa Rugby Union was held on Monday evening. In the absence of Mr P. E. Brcnan Mr C. T. Mettara presided over the following : Messrs H. M. Shand. F. G. Otter, T. Welch, W. Pennell, C H. Potter, and C. H. Butcher, secretary. JUNIOR REPRESENTATIVE TEAM. The Morrinsville Union wrote asking if Paeroa could send a junior re-, presentative team to play a match at Morrinsvilje. It was decided that there was no date available until after the end of the piesent month, when the matter would be again considered. PROTESTS. The protest lodged by the East club on the grounds that Weist had played .a Cambridge senior in the East v. West, junior game on August 2 .was discussed. After a lengthy discussion the protest was dismissed on the grounds that the West club had been justified in assuming that the man was eligible to play. The protest lodged by the Karangahake: club on the grounds that the referee hi the Karangahake v. Netherton match on August 2 was not authorised to control the game was also dismissed, the committee being satisfied that the referee had acted with die knowledge and sanction of the Referees’ Association. The protest fees in both cases were returned. A RULING SOUGHT. It was decided to apply to the par-' ent body, through the Thames Valley Unioi., for a ruling as to whether the onus of ascertaining the status of a player rested on the club or the union. REFRESHMENTS: It was agreed to provide dinner, and light refreshments after the game, for the Piako schoolboys, whp arc to play a curtain-raiser to the Paeroa- Plains representative match in Paeroa to-morrow. Mr H M. Shand was appointed manager of the Paeroa senior team. USE OF ROOMS. Mr W. Bain offered the free uise of. a portion of his premises as a meeting place for the committee meetings, and the offer was gratefully accepted. USE OF JERSEYS. Permission was granted to the Karangahake club to use the representative jerseys to play a match for charity purposes at Karangahake,’provided the fixture did not clash, with any union games. It was also agreed to have the jerseys washed and repaired. SCHOOL COMPETITION. The committee considered that it was desirable, if practicable, to provide a trophy in the school competition, and Mr Welch and the secretary were appointed to go into the matter and see what could be done. | REGISTRATIONS. The registrations of S. Kerr for Weist junior& and H. Bidois for West thirdgrade were approved. TO' .MORROW’S FIXTURES. Seniors. —Paeroa v. Hauiaki Plains, at Paeroa. Juniors. —East v.
