A BROKEN WINDOW.
RAFFiLL’S SHOP AGAIN SUFFERS. THIRD DELIBERATE SMASHING. Once again the large plate-glass window in Mr B. Raffill’s shop in Belmont Road, Paeroa, has been deliberately smashed. This is now the third occasion on which - the plate-glass has been deliberately broken, the first time being on September 9 pf last year. The glass was renewed and attractive signwriting was done when, strangely, enough, as soon as the work was completed the window was again smashed on the night of November 18 last. The premises are owned by Mr W. J. Ellis, who is responsible also for the condition of the windows. It is difficult to imagine why anyone should commit such a wilful act, and it is hoped that on this occasion an arrest will follow. Strangely enough, in each instance the windo.w was broken during the week-end. The window was insured, but it is extremely doubtful if any insurance company will take a further risk.
