TO-NIGHT. THE CLEAN-UP. "The Clean-Up,” the latest idea in photoplays, will be shown at the Gaiety Theatre to-night. H. H. Van Loan, the author, has taken a situation that is farcical. Every development is a fresh laugh, and it ie surround'd with a two-fisted, fighting star, working out the tale in thrilling adventures. Herbert Rawlinson stars in this new Universal attraction. The main story is built round an eccentric millio laire’s will, which leaves a fortune to every citizen in a village. Wild with money, the villagers stop all work in a mad pursuit of pleasure. SATURDAY NIGHT, PENROD AND SAM. The care-free days will be recalled Cor you in ‘‘Penrod and Sam,” to be screened at the Gaiety Theatre tomorrow. It ie a First National Picture, based on Booth Tarkington’s famous book, and was directed by William Beaudine. Tarkington’s stories of boyhood are classics ; Beaudine is renowned for his ability to get childien to act before the movie camera in a natural manner. This combination has produced a picture that you will want to see more than once, and one that you will find it hard to forget. It is true to life in every particular, and, while the laughs predominate, you will find yourself wiping away a tear as you witness Penrod’s grief over the loss of his dog. You are going to love Bonny Alexander and Joe Butterworth, who play Penrod and Sam, and all the rest of their little comrades — Buddy and Gertrude Messenger, Newton Hall, and Joe McCray and Gene Jacksen, who are the "Herman and Verman” of the story. The adult members of the cast are Rockliffe Fellows, Mary Philbin, Gareth Hughes, William V. Mong, and Gladys Brockwell. A special matinee will be given at 3 p.m.
