WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co.. Ltd., reports : — Beef. —The market continues firm for both prime steer and co.w beef, with good yardingis ; also a lot of unfinished coming forward for which there is little demand. Mutton.—There is little change in the price of mutton, extra prime quality be ng most in demand. Store Cattle.—The marke's show an improvement, especially for 3 and 4year steers ; also for 18-mpnths and good steer calves, but yardings have been small, consisting mostly of empty cows and yearling heifers, for which there its little inquiry. Store Sheep.—There is still a keen demand for store sheep, hoggets especially being in keen demand ; also a good inquiry for ewes in lamb and wethers. Dairy Cattle.—There is still a good d( maud for good tested herds and for good lines of. springing heifers, Jerseys being mostly inquired for. A lot of inferior cattle are coming on the market and there is little demand for this claiss. Pigs.—Tlie market is very firm for both fats and stores.' We have only been having small yardings of fats, but steres are coming forward in good numbers and finding ready sale at good prices. Horses.—The sales continue good for heavy draughts, good farm and spring cart sorts, with little inquiry for light horses. We quote.— Bullocks, prime heavy £l2 IDs to £l3 10s, medium £9 10s to £lO 10s ; cows, prime £6 10s to £7 7s, medium £4 10s to £4 15s, unfinished £3 to £3 ss, stores 15s to 25s ; steens, forward £4 15s to £5 10s, stores £3 15s to £4 ss, 2y 2 -ycar good £3 to £3 ss, others £2 5s to £2 10s.; yearlings, good £2 to £2 ss. medium £1 5s to £1 10s. Wethers, prime heavy 38ts to £2 2s, medium 34s to 365; ewes, prime heavy 27s to 30s, light 25s to 26s ; store wethers, 4-topth 32s to 35-, 2-tooth 28s to 30s ; ewes in lamb 5-year 28s to 335, sound mouth 25s to 27s ; lambs, fat 25s to 275, forward 22vs to 24s ; store lambs, good 18s to 225, medium 15s to 17s, small 12s 6d to 14s 6d. Pigs: Baconers, prime £4 to £4 10s, medium £3 10s to £3 15s , porkers £2 10s to £3 15s ; slips, 30s to £2; weaners, 25s to 27s 6d. Horses: Heavy draughts £5O to £6O, medium £35 to £3B ; spring cart sorts £lB to £22 ; harness horses £8 to £lO. MEAT PRODUCERS’ BOARD. LONDON PRICES. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board received the following cable from its London office, dated July 25, 1924, advising Smithfield . delivered prices at that date : — New Zealand wethers and maidens : Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under, 7 3 /4d ; 571. b to 641 b, 7%d ; 651 b to 721 b, 7d. Other brands : 561 b and under, 7 x /2d; 571 b to 641 b, 7d ; 65)b to 721 b, 6%d. New Zealand ewes: 641 b and under, 5%d. New Zealand Jamb: Canterbury quality, 361 b and under, 11 %d; 371 b to 421 b, lid; 431 b to 501 b, 10%d; seconds, 10%d: selected, 361 b and under, 11%d : 371 b to 421 b, ll%d. Other brand.,: first quality, 4'2lb and under, 10%d ; seconds, 10%d. New Zealand beef not quoted. Argentine chilled beef: Ox fores, 2%d; ox hinds 6%d. Argentine frozen beef: Ox fores, 2%d, ox hinds 4%d.. Frozen pork not quoted. Frozen veal, 4J4d. Mutton : Trade better prices improved. Lamb : Good trade, market very firm.
