PAEKOA STOCK SALE. The first stock sale in Paeroa since March last was conducted by the Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., in the saleyards yesterday, when there was a good yarding of stock, including twp pens of sheep. There was a fair attendance of settlers, but, unfortunately, competition was not keen and many pens failed to change hands. No doubt the recent floods and general shortage of feed were contributing causes, to the dullness of the market. That Paeroa is centrally situated and an ideal locality for the holding of regular stock sales there can be little doubt, judging by the fact that yesterday stock was brought from MorrinsviUe, Tirohi a. Waihi, Hikutaia* and most parts of the Hauraki Plains. There are several minor improvements that might be effected in the yards which would be much appreciated by the public and go a long Way towards popularising the sales. For instance, a shelter-shed might be erected at a small cost; and the provision of a table or bench for the convenience of the booking clerks and persons wishing to write cheques could be made. These are small matters that require attention. Included in some of the lines dis- '' posed of were: Springing Holstein heifers, £4 10s to £8 10s ; fresh-condi-tioned cows 32s 6d to £2 17s 6d; store cows 255; in-calf Shorthorn heifers £2 9s. fair quality Shorthorn calves 13s; 2-year-old empty heifers £2 to £2 10s ; forward store hoggets 225.
