DRUIDS’ SOCIALS.

FORTNIGHTLY FUNCTIONS. SUCCESSFUL INITIATION. The first of a series of socials organised by the Paeroa Druids was held in the Druids’ Hall, Bradley Street, last evening, when there was a large attendance of members and friend. The first half of the evennig was devoted to a progressive euchre tournament, in which 52 players took part. Competition was keen for the handsome prizes at.stake, and after a close finish it was announced that Mrs W. Grant had carried off first honours in the ladies’ competition, Mrs B. Dunlop being the runner-up. In the men’s section Mr H. Mitchell was first and Mr H. Pope second. At the conclusion of .the tournament an enjoyable supper was served by the member,s’ wives and friends, after which the hall was cleared and an impromptu dance wa,s held as a finale to a successful evening. Music for the dancing was contributed by Mrs T. S. Short, and Mr R. Turner capably fulfilled the duties of M.C. The second of these tournaments will be held in a fortnight’s time.
