TONIGHT. SHADOWS OF THE NORTH. One of tiie must graphic stories of life along the gold trails and in the mining camps of North-West Canada that has been presented to the motion picture public in a long time is “Shadows of the North,” to be screened at the Gaiety Theatre to-night. The story is built round tire experiences of a young Canadian who had spent many weary summers prospecting and had finally struck “pay,” only to learn upon his arrival at the trading post that Canada bad entered the war. He enlisted, entrusting the valuable mining claim to the care of his dad, a grizzled sourdough who was a good shot but no match for the ruthless claim jumpers who had been baulked by his son. The crooks did away with the old man and restaked the claim. TO-MORROW NIGHT. POTASH AND PERMUTTER. At the Gaiety Theatre to-morrow night a special attraction will be presented in “Potash and Permutter. Included in the east are Barney Bernard, Alex Carr (the originals), Veia Gordon. Martha Mansfield, and Be’ Lyon. This picture is known as the “scream of the screen,” and is regarded the world over as a classic of comedy on the stage and the greatest comedy the screen has ever seen. It is bel'cved to be the non-stop laugh provoKcr of the year.
