WEDDING.
McBETH—SMITH. A wedding of considerable interest took place in Puriri on May 8, when Agues Elizabeth (Bessie), eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Johnson Smith, of Puriri, was united iu the bonds of Holy Matrimony to Mr Jack Mcßeth, younger son of Mrs and the late Mr Duncan Mcßeth, of Puriri. The wedding, which was of a quiet nature, took place at the residence of the bride’s parents. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked sweet in a very dainty bridal frock of white crepe-de-chine and georgette, embroidered prettily in very pale shades. A very pretty posy of small flowers, in the same shades, finished the frock at the waist. A long tulle veil and. coronet of orange blossoms were worn, and a shower bouquet completed the chn’ming bridal toilet. Miss Emmaline Smith, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and wore a very pretty frock of pale pink crepe-de-chine and a hat trimmed with autumn tints, and carried a bouquet of autumn flowers Mr Tom Mcßeth supported liis brother as best man, and the Rev. A. J. Beck was the officiating clergyman. Mrs Johnson Smith wore a navy blue gaberdine costume handsomely braided, and a hat of black velvet, trimmed with silver. Mrs McBeth, mother of the bridegroom, wore a pale fawn gaberdine coat-frock handsomely braided and relieved with touches of blue, and fawn hat trimmed with blue to match; After the ceremony Mr and Mrs Smith entertained.their guests in the large diningroom', which was prettily decorated with ferns and greenery. A sumptuous wedding breakfast was provided, and the usual toasts were honoured.
The wedding presents were handsome and numerous, showing .the high esteem in which the contracting parties were held. Mr and Mrs J. Mcßeth left by motor for Te Aroha, en route to Auckland, where the honeymoon was to be spent, Mrs Mcßeth’s travelling costume being of mole-coloured gaberdine trimmed with fur of the same shade, with a smart toque of bright navy blue velvet.
