BOROUGH BOUNDARIES.
FINDING OF COMMISSION. CERTAIN AREAS RELEASED. With reference to the Borough Boundaries Commission which sat in Paeroa during the first week of last month to hear the evidence of a number of ratepayers petitioning for ex elusion from the Borough of Paeroa, and also a .petition by ths Borough Council asking for the inclusion of certain land in the Ohinemuri County to be placed in the borough, the finding of the Commission, which comprised Messrs J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M., chairman ; W. F. Marsh, and W. I’. Wiillis, has been received from the Department of Internal Affairs, together with a plan showing the areas in question, by His Worship the Moyor (Mr W. Marshall). Briefly, the finding states property of M. Goonan and some Native property on the left bank of the Ohinemuri River, Paeroa, shall be excluded from the borough, and also all the flat land etxending from the river side of Waihi Road to the liver, comprising Messrs G. Buchanan’s and Barrett’s properties. The remaining petitioners for exclusion from the borough were unsuccessful. The petition lodged by the Borough Council to have certain land, including the proposed railway settlement, included in the borough area was also unsuccessful. The Commission also finds that the costs incidental to both inquiries shall be borne by the Paeroa Borough Council. Interviewed this morning, the Mayor stated that at this juncture he was not prepared to make anj r statement on the results of the Commission, but that the full report of the commissioners, together with comments, would be made after consultation with his colleagues on the Council.
