They did things differently i n the old days. An Australian paper printed sixty years ago contains the following intimation from Adelaide ; “Mr Tompkinson. manager of the Bank of Australasia, advises in the ‘Register that no person need apply to him for charitable donations, as he intends to devote his earnings for the next six months to the claims of his own family and the payment of tradesmen’s accounts.”
