NGATEA HIGH SCHOOL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the Ngatea District High School Committee was hel l on Monday evening, Mr W. McDuff presiding . over Messrs W. L Clare, C. W. Schultz, W. Clark, and G. Robinson (lion, secretary). Mr W. J. Clare reported that an iron shelter to house the bicycles of pupils had been made during the mouth at the request of the schoolmaster. The chairman reported that the recent school concert had insulted in a profit of £l7 3s lid. Of this sum £lO 3s lid had been placed in the bank and £7 paid to Mr Walton, who had paid the amount due on the secondary department building fund. The sum due to Mr Walton was something over £B, but he liad made a donation of the balance. A vote of thanks to Mr Walton was carried, as was also one to the school teachers who had organised the concert. The secretary was instructed to apply for the subsidy. ['he chairman was authorised to arrange for the carting of metal for paths in the playground. Mr Clare submitted estimates for the construction of a swimming bath 7'sft by 36ft, the total cost being £419 10s. The secretary was instructed to ascertain what .subsidy the Education Board would be prepared to give. It- was decided to send a letter of thanks to the Lands Drainage Engineer for his action in granting permission to use the Department’s paddock as a right-of-way to the hors? paddock. The secretary was instructed to write to the Post and Telegraph Department asking that the poles and gear on this right-of-way be removed. The matter of the removal of the pig depot from near the corner of the school grounds wa.s brought up, an l it was pointed out that this was a matter for the County Council to deal with, and the council would no doubt give it serious consideration.
