DEPUTATION TO WELLINGTON. The Mayor of Waihi (Mr W. M. W iHuutt) and the town clerk (Mr JJ. Ritchie) while in Wellington recently interviewed tiie Premier and the Minister for Public Works in Connection with the revenue from gold duty, about fifty per cent, of which was held back last year for the Waihou and Ohinemuri rivers improvement. Those interviewed include-! the secretary of tiie Treasury Department, Mr Esson, and it is understood that while no definite decision was reached while the deputation was in Wellington, there is good reason '<> hope that the amount to .ie credited to the Waihi Borough Council in fu lure will be from £l5OO to £2OOO more than the present limit, which fixes the annual payments at £5OOO.
